Access block imposed on 246 accounts in capital market investigations

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that access has been blocked to 246 social media accounts and a total of 20 suspects have been arrested within the scope of judicial investigations conducted against manipulative transactions and speculative posts targeting investors' savings in capital markets.

Capital Market Investigations

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that those engaging in manipulative actions targeting citizens' savings will be held accountable before the law, and that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is closely monitoring the process.

It was announced that written requests were issued to grant investigation permission to the Capital Markets Board and, most recently, a new application was filed by the Bureau of Investigation of Laundering Crimes.

Fund and Share Market Measures

It was stated that criminal complaints were filed regarding allegations of manipulative transactions in fund and share markets within the scope of the Capital Market Law.

While 4 suspects, including the chairman and members of the fund board of directors, were arrested, a travel ban abroad was imposed on 51 people and interim measures were placed on their assets.

Access Block on Social Media Accounts

An access block decision was issued regarding 246 social media accounts determined to have made speculative posts that could create fear and panic among investors.

It was noted that the access block decisions issued by the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace were sent to the Cyber Security Presidency for implementation.

Bakırköy Investigation and Indictments

In the investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 16 suspects who manipulated markets via social media were arrested.

As a result of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the fluctuations, an indictment was prepared against 41 suspects.
