With the aim of strengthening the sports infrastructure of the TRNC and reaching international standards, the launch of the New Atatürk Stadium and Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, designed with an 8,000-spectator capacity in compliance with UEFA criteria, has been realized.

Project Purpose and Capacity Information

The New Atatürk Stadium and Multi-Purpose Sports Complex was prepared with the goal of strengthening the sports infrastructure of the TRNC and creating a new facility in compliance with international standards.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced during his speech at the launch that the new stadium will comply with UEFA criteria, have a capacity of eight thousand spectators, and feature twenty-five private box sections.

International Standards and Design

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the project is not merely a stadium, but has been designed as a multi-purpose sports complex that integrates with the city.

Yılmaz said that the facility was prepared based on UEFA fourth-category criteria and planned in a way that its capacity can be increased if needed.

Living Stadium Concept

Instead of a structure used only on match days, a target was adopted for a sports complex that will remain active throughout the year.

It was stated that with training areas and various usage sections, the facility will be utilized outside of match days as well, and a "living stadium" concept that integrates with the city prevails.

Environmental Sustainability Elements

It was announced that environmental sustainability elements have also been incorporated into the project, designing it as a green stadium.

It was noted that solar energy systems will be located on top of the parking lots and rainwater will be collected and used to irrigate the turf.

Use During Disaster Situations

It was conveyed that the stadium has been designed to also serve as a safe gathering area during disasters.

It was emphasized that an infrastructure has been included in the project where people can safely gather in the event of a possible disaster and access basic services.

Consultation Process and Next Steps

Following the launch, the project is planned to be opened to the opinions of federations, the sports community, and relevant segments for approximately one month.

Following this process, the goal is to complete the technical and engineering studies and move on to the ground-breaking stage.
