Access Block Imposed on T24 Website and Social Media Accounts
Within the scope of an ongoing investigation regarding content allegedly published over the past year, the T24 news site and its social media accounts have been shut down.
In line with an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a closure decision was issued for the T24 news website and its social media accounts on the grounds that they produced content constituting LGBT propaganda over the past year.
Investigation and Closure Decision
The online news portal T24 was targeted within the scope of the 'My Family is Safe' investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
As a result of examinations, it was alleged that 118 pieces of content published within the past year carried the nature of LGBT propaganda.
Decision of Judicial Authorities
The Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace decided to shut down the news website and its social media accounts.
This legal decision was forwarded to the Presidency of Cyber Security for fulfillment and implementation.
Notification and Process Details
The Presidency of Cyber Security notified T24 of the closure decision via email around 17:00.
In the notification made by the authorized institutions, it was requested that the decision be implemented within a four-hour period.
Statements from the Institution
In a statement made by T24, it was expressed that the decision was announced through a note shared by the Ministry of Justice in press groups.
The institution also shared with the public that it has been subjected to unjust accusations, defamation, and lynching campaigns for some time.
Political and Media Reactions
T24 General Publication Coordinator and Ankara Representative Gökçer Tahincioğlu expressed his reaction against the decision.
DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan also shared her criticisms regarding the closure decision with the public and reacted to it.
