Lawsuit in the US and Florida's Demands
As part of the ongoing lawsuit against Meta, the owner of Instagram and Facebook, the Florida Attorney General in the US demanded radical restrictions and the cessation of addictive features such as autoplay and infinite scrolling for young users.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier continued the legal battle, arguing that Meta would view previously reached settlements merely as the cost of doing business.
Preliminary Injunctions Requested from the Court
The Florida Attorney General asked the court for the immediate removal of users under the age of 14 from the platforms, limiting the total daily usage time for youth to two hours, and blocking targeted advertisements.
Legal Regulation Process in Turkey
With the law passed by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), provisions regarding the access of children under the age of 15 to social networks have been added, and the relevant parts of the regulation will enter into force on November 1, 2026.
Age Verification and Technical Infrastructure Issues
While social network providers are obligated to take measures to verify the age of children, discussions continue on whether e-Government or token systems will be made mandatory, alongside ongoing technical infrastructure work.
Technical standards and testing processes for the anonymous digital token architecture have not yet been completed.
Implementation Challenges and VPN Risk
Reasons for the technical infrastructure's impracticality in the field include the risks of VPN usage and the failure to localize parental control tools.
