Alleged Theft and Detention at a Store in Nişantaşı
A social media influencer, accused of trying to remove numerous items from a store in Istanbul without paying, has been released.
Dem Sevinç K., a social media influencer and painter, was detained after allegedly attempting to take clothing worth approximately 48,000 liras out of a store in Nişantaşı, Istanbul, without making a payment.
Caught at the Store Exit
28-year-old Dem Sevinç K., who allegedly tried to take 24 items out of a store in Nişantaşı, Istanbul, without paying, was stopped at the front door by store employees.
Upon the notification of the staff, police teams dispatched to the scene detained the suspect and took her to the Harbiye Police Station, while the items were returned to the employees.
Statement at the Police Station and Prosecutor's Office
Defending herself in her statement at the police station by claiming she was waiting for her friend in front of the store and intended to pay for the items, the suspect was released upon the instructions of the prosecutor's office after her procedures were completed.
Past Incidents and Criminal Record
Police investigations revealed that the suspect had previously been involved in a similar incident at the same store, but the employees had not filed a complaint at that time.
Additionally, it was determined that Dem Sevinç K. had a past criminal record for theft and was processed in 2021 over an incident involving money stolen from a friend's bag.
