Following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Alpine team officially condemned the increase in abusive and harassing posts on social media directed at Formula 1 drivers, media members, and teams.
The Accident in Baku and Its Aftermath
During the race held in Baku, a mistake made by Franco Colapinto at the restart following the safety car turned into a major accident for Alpine.
Following this incident, teammate Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris were forced to retire, while intense criticism and insults targeting many individuals, especially Colapinto, began on social media.
Alpine Condemns Online Hate Speech
As the reactions targeted various members of the Formula 1 community, the Alpine team made an official statement strongly condemning online hate speech.
The French team emphasized that mistakes made during the race are a natural part of the sport and that on-track competition cannot justify personal attacks.
