Driver Penalized for Endangering Traffic Safety on D-100 Highway
A driver in Kadıköy, Istanbul, who was weaving through traffic and violating the emergency lane on the D-100 Highway, was identified and caught thanks to social media posts.
On September 21 in Istanbul, 27-year-old Y.Y., who endangered traffic by weaving through traffic and violating the emergency lane with his car on the D-100 Highway, was caught by traffic inspection teams following footage spread on the internet.
Action Taken Upon Footage
Istanbul Traffic Inspection teams initiated an investigation by examining footage circulating on the internet showing a driver making dangerous maneuvers on the D-100 Highway. As a result of their examination, the teams quickly identified the driver.
Heavy Fine Imposed
It was determined that the vehicle driver was 27-year-old Y.Y. A total fine of 110,000 liras was issued to the caught driver in accordance with the provisions of the Highway Traffic Law for weaving through traffic and violating the emergency lane.
License and Vehicle Seized
The driver's license, who disregarded traffic safety, was suspended for 60 days. Additionally, the car used by the driver in the incident was banned from traffic and impounded for 60 days.
Released Under Judicial Control Conditions
Judicial proceedings were initiated against the driver under the crime of 'endangering traffic safety'. After procedures at the police station, Y.Y. was referred to the court and released under judicial control conditions.
