In simultaneous operations carried out across ten different provinces under an Istanbul-centric investigation, 10 suspects were detained upon being identified as generating unfair profits by broadcasting content on social media platforms that runs contrary to the Turkish family structure.

Initiation of the Investigation

Within the scope of efforts coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, certain live broadcasts conducted on social media platforms during virtual patrol activities were placed under scrutiny.

Identified Content

It was determined that the suspects engaged in fighting, threats, insults, tension-building, and victimhood-inducing posts during live broadcasts made via platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and X.

Accusations and Objectives

Examinations revealed that the content was contrary to the Turkish family structure and that the suspects aimed to collectively generate digital revenue through these broadcasts. Findings were established against the suspects for the crimes of inciting the public to hatred and hostility, or degradation, as well as obscenity.

Simultaneous Raids in Ten Provinces

Within the scope of the ongoing investigation, simultaneous operations and raids were carried out primarily in Istanbul, as well as in the provinces of Bursa, Ankara, Antalya, Kocaeli, Muğla, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Malatya, and Elazığ.

Detention Procedures and Tests

As a result of the operations, a total of 10 suspects were captured and taken to law enforcement units. Tests were also administered to the suspects, whose procedures at the police station are ongoing, to determine whether they had used drugs or stimulant substances.
