Simultaneous Operation Against Social Media Influencers in Ten Provinces
In simultaneous operations carried out in ten provinces centered in Istanbul, ten social media influencers determined to have generated income through inappropriate and threatening posts were detained.
As part of studies conducted by Istanbul Security Directorate teams targeting individuals who generate digital income by producing inappropriate content on social media platforms, simultaneous operations were organized in ten provinces and ten suspects were apprehended.
Details and Rationale of the Operation
As a result of joint efforts carried out by the Istanbul Security Directorate Public Order Branch and Cyber Crimes Branch teams, suspects producing unlawful content via social media were identified.
It was determined that the suspects exhibited attitudes contrary to the family structure by making posts involving fights, threats, insults, and tension during live broadcasts, thereby generating digital income.
Charges and Scope
In evaluations made by security units, it was assessed that the actions of the suspects constituted the crimes of Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility or Degrading, as well as Obscenity.
Within the scope of the investigation, simultaneous raids were carried out in the provinces of Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Kocaeli, Muğla, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Malatya, and Elazığ.
Detained Individuals and Process
As a result of the operations, Sinan Kaya, Cansum Kaya, Ferhat Billor, Çağlayan Yıldırım, Onur Sermik, Elif Akdemir, Onur Can Güzel, Mehmet Emin Citer, Mehmet Aden Arslan, and Semih Varol were detained.
Tests were administered to the detained suspects to detect the use of drugs or stimulants, and their procedures at the security department are ongoing.
