Simultaneous Operation Conducted Against Social Media Influencers in 10 Provinces
In an investigation coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous operations were carried out across 10 provinces targeting individuals generating income by producing inappropriate content in the digital environment, resulting in the detention of 10 suspects.
Under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous operations were conducted in 10 provinces targeting individuals identified as generating digital revenue by producing content on social media platforms involving fights, threats, and material contrary to family structure. A total of 10 suspects were detained during the operation and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
Grounds and Scope of the Investigation
Virtual patrol activities were carried out by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Public Order Branch and Cyber Crimes Branch under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Detailed examinations revealed that certain suspects shared content involving fights, threats, insults, tension, and victimization during live broadcasts on social media platforms.
Charges and Applicable Legal Articles
It was determined that the suspects produced content contrary to family structure and acted together to generate digital revenue through these broadcasts. The investigation is being conducted under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code regarding "Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility or Degrading Them" and Article 226 concerning "Obscenity".
Simultaneous Operations in Ten Provinces
In line with the ongoing investigation, simultaneous operations were carried out in a total of 10 provinces, centered in Istanbul and including Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Kocaeli, Muğla, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Malatya, and Elazığ.
Names of the Detained Suspects
As a result of the operations, Sinan Kaya, Cansum Kaya, Ferhat Billor, Çağlayan Yıldırım, Onur Sermik, Elif Akdemir, Onur Can Güzel, Mehmet Emin Citer, Mehmet Aden Arslan, and Semih Varol were detained.
Health Tests and Fugitive Suspects
The detained suspects underwent tests at the police station to detect the use of drugs or stimulant substances. Meanwhile, it was reported that 5 fugitive suspects named Berat Menekşe, Mehmet Özdemirkol, Merve Tarcan, Ayla Bayram, and Yazgül Karakaş are also being sought within the scope of the investigation.
