In Mersin's Erdemli district, gendarmerie teams carried out an operation against a ring that defrauded people through blackmail via fake social media accounts, and four of the captured suspects were sent to prison.
Details of the Operation
The Provincial Gendarmerie Command, under the coordination of the Erdemli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, initiated an effort to apprehend suspects who committed blackmail using explicit images over social media.
Simultaneous Raids
Following the identification of the suspects' identities and addresses, simultaneous operations were carried out at designated locations, resulting in the detention of 5 suspects.
Seized Materials
During searches conducted at the suspects' addresses and on their persons, 9 mobile phones, 3 SIM cards, 2 identity cards belonging to other individuals, and 32 synthetic pharmaceutical pills were seized.
Judicial Process
Out of the 5 suspects referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the gendarmerie, 4 were arrested by the court they were brought before, while a judicial control decision was applied regarding the other suspect.
