TikTok and Meta accept restrictions through child safety settlements in the US

Following Meta, TikTok has also reached a settlement with the state of Alabama amidst legal processes filed in the US over children's social media use and mental health concerns. Within the framework of the settlement, the company agreed to pay at least $100 million and implement various security restrictions for young users.

The China-based video platform TikTok signed a major legal settlement as part of the lawsuit filed by the state of Alabama.
Restrictions on Child Users
Under the agreement, daily platform usage for young users in the state will be limited to 2 hours, and access will be blocked from midnight to six in the morning.
Financial Sanctions and Process
TikTok is required to make the $100 million payment within 45 days. It is stated that this amount could rise to $300 million if the conditions are not met.
Meta's Settlement Process
Last month, Facebook and Instagram's parent company Meta also agreed to a settlement exceeding $17 billion, introducing automatic restrictions for young users.
