Somalia Thanks Türkiye for Defense Support

The Somali Ministry of Defense received Brigadier General Sabahattin Kalkan, commander of Türkiye's TURKSOM military training base in the country, along with the accompanying Turkish military delegation, and conveyed its gratitude for the support.

Reception of the Military Delegation

According to the official statement made by the Somali Ministry of Defense, Fiqi received the Turkish military delegation headed by Brigadier General Sabahattin Kalkan in his office. Relations between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.

Defense Cooperation and Training

During the meeting, efforts to strengthen defense cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye, train members of the Somali National Army, and develop the army's capacity were addressed.

Role of TURKSOM and Gratitude

Fiqi emphasized that TURKSOM plays an important role in training Somali soldiers and developing their professional skills. Türkiye was thanked for its contributions to the restructuring of the Somali army.
