2 Business Owners Arrested in Connection with Gym Fire in Batman
The operators who were detained in the investigation of the sauna fire in Batman, which left three people dead and nine injured, have been arrested.
The judicial process continues regarding the fire that broke out in the sauna section of a gym in Batman's Gültepe Neighborhood, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to nine others.
The Outbreak of the Fire
A fire broke out for an undetermined reason on the evening of August 30 in the sauna section of a gym located in Gültepe Neighborhood in Batman. Upon notification of the incident, numerous fire, AFAD, UMKE, and police teams were dispatched to the area.
Injured and Casualties
A total of 12 people affected by the fire, which was brought under control through the intervention of the teams, including three who were seriously injured, were hospitalized. Despite all medical interventions, Şanzime Sarıgül, Emine Yani, and Gülsüm Öztekin Tunç, a mother of two, lost their lives.
Identities of the Deceased
It was learned that Şanzime Sarıgül and Emine Yani, who lost their lives in the fire, worked at the Children's Homes Site affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. The bodies of the three deceased individuals were handed over to their relatives after autopsy procedures and buried.
Judicial Investigation and Arrests
Within the scope of the investigation launched by the Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, two business owners and three employees were detained. After proceedings at the police station, the two business owners were referred to the courthouse and arrested and sent to prison.
Status of the Employees
Of the three employees detained within the scope of the investigation, all were released, with one under judicial control conditions. The legal process and investigation initiated regarding the incident are continuing in a multifaceted manner.
