Amateur Sports Week Begins in Ağrı Accompanied by a 100-Meter Turkish Flag

Celebrations for Amateur Sports Week began in Ağrı with a march led by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Turkish Confederation of Amateur Sports Clubs.

Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Turkish Confederation of Amateur Sports Clubs, and under the coordination of the Ağrı Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, the Amateur Sports Week events started with an enthusiastic march carrying a 100-meter Turkish flag.

High Interest in the March

Many protocol members, athletes, and citizens attended the cortege march organized to spread sports to all segments of society and draw attention to the importance of amateur clubs.

Sports Services Manager Cemil Budak, branch managers, Ağrı ASKF President Hayati Bekis, and Ağrı Clubs Union President Nejdet Çiftçioğlu took part in the event.

Cortege from Abide Square to Millet Garden

Participants gathered at Abide Square and progressed to the accompaniment of drums and zurna, carrying a 100-meter-long Turkish flag in their hands.

Throughout the march, citizens enthusiastically walked to the Millet Garden carrying placards and equipment belonging to various sports branches.

Emphasis on the Importance of Infrastructure

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at Millet Garden, Sports Services Manager Cemil Budak emphasized the vital importance of amateur sports for the infrastructure of Turkish sports.

Budak stated that the path to Olympic and world championships passes through these clubs and highlighted the unifying power of sports in the development of youth.

Cancellations Due to Weather Conditions

Demonstrations in various sports branches planned to be held within the scope of the ceremony were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

Events to Continue Throughout the Week

Within the scope of Amateur Sports Week celebrated between October 5-11, tournaments such as athletics, football, basketball, and volleyball will be organized throughout Ağrı.

With sports activities to be held in the city center and districts, events will also take place in different branches such as tennis, table tennis, and badminton.
