Amateur Sports Week inaugurated with enthusiastic ceremonies in Trabzon
Events held in Trabzon kicked off with a walk attended by officials and a wreath-laying program at the Atatürk Monument.
The 14th Amateur Sports Week events held this year in Trabzon officially began with a walk from Kahramanmaraş Street to 15 July Martyrs and Freedom Park, followed by a ceremony.
Walk and Wreath-Laying Ceremony
Amateur Sports Week in Trabzon opened with a walk and wreath-laying program led by the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports. Protocol members, club managers, athletes, and citizens gathered on Kahramanmaraş Street and marched to 15 July Martyrs and Freedom Park. Following the walk, Provincial Youth and Sports Director Lokman Arıcıoğlu laid a wreath at the Atatürk Monument.
Participation of Officials
The opening ceremony was attended by Provincial Youth and Sports Director Lokman Arıcıoğlu, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Head of Youth and Sports Department Özgür Kara, and Trabzon ASKF President Zeki Kurt. The ceremony continued with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.
Purpose and Significance of the Week
Provincial Youth and Sports Director Lokman Arıcıoğlu emphasized that the primary goal of the week, now in its 14th year, is to spread sports to the masses, develop a sports culture, and support amateur clubs. Arıcıoğlu stated that they aim to raise not only athletes but also good individuals in amateur sports branches.
The Cornerstone of Amateur Sports
Trabzon ASKF President Zeki Kurt stated in his remarks that amateur sports are a critical field based on volunteerism, carried out with great sacrifices, and keeping youth away from bad habits. It was reported that awards will be given through 'Best of Sports' events in the later stages of the program.
