According to Deloitte's research, the annual spending volume of the sports ecosystem in Turkey reaches a total level of 181 billion Turkish Liras, along with central and local government investments.
General Size of the Sports Ecosystem
It is stated that annual spending in professional and amateur sports, school sports, e-sports, and other related fields is around 81 billion Turkish Liras.
With the addition of approximately 100 billion liras in sports investments made by central and local governments, the total spending volume reaches 181 billion liras.
Economic Distribution by Branches
While the size of the professional club and athlete economy is estimated at approximately 52 billion Turkish Liras, football constitutes about 75 percent of this amount.
The basketball economy has a size of approximately 7.3 billion liras, while the professional volleyball economy is calculated as 4.6 billion liras, with the share of women's leagues in volleyball reaching 60 percent.
Amateur Sports and School Activities
The size of the amateur sports ecosystem in Turkey is estimated to be around 10 billion Turkish Liras, and approximately 1.3 million students participated in school sports during the 2024-2025 academic period.
Contribution of Sports Tourism to the Economy
While the size of Turkey's sports tourism market ranges between 45 and 55 billion Turkish Liras, approximately 50-60 percent of this revenue is generated from international visitors.
