Statement Regarding the Structure in İmralı

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli clarified the allegations that came to the agenda following his interview with journalist Nagehan Alçı. Stating that some circles interpreted the information conveyed by Alçı as the construction of a villa, Bahçeli clearly denied this claim.

Bahçeli stated that there is no villa on İmralı Island, but a 250-square-meter residence has been built for Abdullah Öcalan. He explained the purpose of this structure as facilities provided for Öcalan to comfortably hold meetings and transmit his messages due to his advancing age.

Details of the Meeting and Process

Speaking to journalist Ceyhun Bozkurt, Bahçeli detailed the rationale behind the construction of the residence in question. Reminding that the island is surrounded by the sea, Bahçeli emphasized that Öcalan's age is advancing and that these facilities need to be provided.

Reiterating his evaluations on the İmralı process, the MHP leader stated that his previously announced proposal for a peace process politicization coordination remains valid.
