Başak Yolu Project Introduced at Istanbul Tourism Fair

Introduced for the first time at the Istanbul Tourism Fair, the Başak Yolu project aims to bring thousands of years of production, craft, and hospitality heritage of Anatolia and the Turkic World to today's tables.
Introduction and Purpose of the Project
Meeting the public at the Istanbul Tourism Fair, Başak Yolu brings together the soil, producer, master, artist, and guest around a common understanding. The project aims to transmit thousands of years of heritage of Anatolia and the Turkic World into the future through scientific studies.
Historical and Scientific Foundations
According to archaeobotanical research published in the journal PNAS in 2018, the traces of bread production that form the starting point of the project date back approximately 14,400 years. Furthermore, the origin of domesticated einkorn wheat is associated with the Karacadağ region of Diyarbakır.
Route Structure and Represented Cities
Başak Yolu consists of six different routes: Silk Road, Caravan Route, Başak Yolu, Ancestors Route, Tokat Route, and Dedeman Route. 11 cities were represented at the fair stand with their local products and tables.
Future Planning and Calendar
The roadmap of the project consists of four phases between the years 2026 and 2053. A study focusing on climate and culture is planned to be conducted within the scope of COP31 to be held in Antalya in November 2026.
