Beşiktaş Files Criminal Complaint Against Broadcaster
While broadcasting debates continue over the Trabzonspor-Galatasaray match, Beşiktaş announced that they have initiated legal proceedings against the broadcaster.
Following Fenerbahçe's reaction to the broadcasting of a head coach's remarks during a Süper Lig match, Beşiktaş also condemned the broadcaster and announced that it has filed a criminal complaint.
Controversial Moments During the Match
In week 6 of the Süper Lig, Trabzonspor defeated Galatasaray 4-0 at home, while Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk was sent off with a red card in the 72nd minute of the match.
The broadcaster of the match conveyed Okan Buruk's remarks regarding the reason for his red card to viewers while the match was still ongoing.
Official Statement from Beşiktaş Club
Following this development, a reaction similar to the one shown by Fenerbahçe Club came from Beşiktaş, and the black-and-whites published an official announcement on the matter.
Beşiktaş announced to the public that they filed an official criminal complaint against the broadcaster at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office last week.
Principle of Impartiality and Legal Process
In the statement made by the black-and-white club, it was emphasized that conveying the words of a head coach who received a red card as if defending him during the match undermined the principle of impartiality.
The club management stated that they are against selective approaches in reflecting positions on the screen and to the VAR room, and called on the sports public to support the legal struggle.
