The Emergence Process of the Offer

Making statements to the official website of the Russian Football Union regarding his new role, Cüneyt Çakır stated that the offer emerged towards the end of last year.

Stating that the negotiations continued after this process, Çakır expressed that he made his decision during the period he officiated at the World Cup and was quickly convinced that the offer was the right one.

Referee Training and Development

Emphasizing that their primary priority in Russia is the training and development of referees, Cüneyt Çakır noted that this process will be managed from a single center across the country.

It was conveyed that the trainings are aimed to be carried out consistently from the highest level down to academy referees.

Georgia Experience and Goals

Stating that he plans to use the experience he gained in Georgia in Russia as well, Çakır explained that he traveled across the country there to discover talented youngsters.

He reminded that thanks to the academy they established, Georgian referees officiated in Champions League matches for the first time in history.

Stating that their goals in Russia are stability and work oriented towards the future, Cüneyt Çakır emphasized that Russia has had many good referees in the past.

He expressed that the efforts are not just for a year or two, and instead of saving the day, they want to shape the future of Russian refereeing.
