Sporting activities implemented by the Green Crescent (Yeşilay) in Hatay, which was affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, enable children to spend their free time usefully and stay away from screen addiction.

Children Meet Different Sports Branches

Within the framework of events organized by the Green Crescent in Hatay, children aged 6 to 17 are brought together with many different sports branches ranging from football to basketball, volleyball, athletics, and table tennis.

Activities in Antakya and Defne Districts

Carried out through cooperation between institutions in the central Antakya and Defne districts, these efforts are conducted with the participation of sports trainers as well as Green Crescent members and volunteers.

Combating Addictions and Overcoming Traumas

Ömer Bilgin, Head of the Green Crescent Hatay Branch, stated that these activities conducted during out-of-school hours aim to prevent addictions that may increase with post-earthquake container living and help children overcome their traumas.

Interinstitutional Cooperation and Children's Views

Defne District Director of Youth and Sports Sedat Öntürk stated that they aim to keep children away from bad habits by directing them to sports, while the children also expressed their satisfaction with engaging in sports.
