Galatasaray Sports Club Celebrates its 121st Anniversary
Galatasaray's 121st founding anniversary was celebrated with ceremonies held at various locations, primarily at the grave of founder Ali Sami Yen.
As part of Galatasaray Sports Club's 121st anniversary celebrations, official ceremonies were held at Feriköy Cemetery, Taksim, and Galatasaray High School.
Feriköy Cemetery and Taksim Ceremonies
Within the scope of the commemoration program that began with a ceremony at the grave of founder Ali Sami Yen, President Dursun Özbek, Board of Trustees President Aykutalp Derkan, and the accompanying delegation also visited the grave of Süleyman Seba.
Following the cemetery visits, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Taksim Atatürk Monument as part of the celebrations.
Galatasaray High School Program
The final part of the events took place in the Tevfik Fikret Hall of Galatasaray High School, where a special video detailing the club's history was screened.
Attaching the Plaque to the Anniversary Log
During the ceremony, the 121st-anniversary plaque was attached to the anniversary log by the club's most senior member and former president Alp Yalman, and Yalman's plaque was presented to him by national athlete Sıla Koloğlu.
Board of Trustees and Medal Ceremony
Galatasaray Board of Trustees President Aykutalp Derkan delivered a speech commemorating Tevfik Fikret and Abdurrahman Şeref Bey, who hold an important place in the club's history.
In the continuation of the program, certificates and medals were presented to individuals who have completed 50 years of club membership.
Presentation of Trophies and Traditional Treat
The trophies and awards won in the past period were presented to be entrusted to the museum, and the celebrations concluded with the serving of traditional Galatasaray rice.
