Galatasaray's Application to the National Team for Victor Osimhen Was Rejected
Nigeria rejected Galatasaray's request for Victor Osimhen, who is currently dealing with an injury, not to be called up to the national team.
Galatasaray received a negative response to its written request asking for Victor Osimhen, who is still recovering from an injury, not to be included in the Nigeria National Team preliminary squad. The star footballer was included in the squad citing critical matches.
Injury Process and Missed Matches
The treatment process continues for Victor Osimhen, who was injured and left the game during the Başakşehir match in the 4th week of the Süper Lig.
During this period lasting about 15 days, the player missed the league match against Kocaelispor and the Champions League match against Sporting.
Galatasaray's Written Application
Galatasaray took action for the player, who has not yet started training with the team and is performing gym work.
The yellow-red club submitted a written application before the upcoming international break, conveying that the player is in the recovery process.
For this reason, the club requested that the footballer not be called up for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Decision of the Nigerian Football Federation
The Nigerian Football Federation officially announced that it gave a negative response to Galatasaray's application.
Federation officials stated that Osimhen is of great importance to them and that the matches are critical.
While Victor Osimhen was included in the announced 24-player preliminary squad, there were also other names from the Süper Lig on the list.
