Golden Horn Sailing Races Held for the Fourth Time
Held in Istanbul with the participation of around one hundred athletes from various clubs, the sailing races lasted for two days and medals were presented to the top performers.
Organized for the fourth time by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the traditional Golden Horn Sailing Races took place at the IMM Golden Horn Water Sports Center over two days, with the participation of approximately 100 athletes from various clubs.
Purpose and Participation of the Races
Organized with the aim of increasing interest in sailing and water sports in Istanbul, the event aims to give children who are new to the sport and receiving training the excitement of racing. Around 100 athletes from different clubs came together in the waters of the Golden Horn.
The organization was held with the participation of Optimist, RS Quest, and RS Feva class boats, and the athletes engaged in a fierce competition over the course of two days.
First Places in Categories
In the Optimist general classification, Elif Yamaç, an athlete from Heybeliada Water Sports Club, finished first. In the RS Feva race, the duo of Arya Fazlıoğulları and Emir Ali Tulpar from Istanbul Sailing Club reached the top.
In the RS Quest race, Mert Aslan Pınarbaşı and Ege Polat Güneş, representatives of the Golden Horn Sailing and Rowing Sports Club, were the ones who stepped onto the top step of the podium.
Award Ceremony and Closing
Following the races, which concluded amidst occasionally shifting winds and waves, trophies and medals were presented to the successful athletes at a ceremony. The awards were presented by IMM Sports Evaluation Manager İlker Öztürk.
