Built at the intersection of Küçüksu, Kandilli, and Kuleli neighborhoods, the Halet Çambel Sports Complex has opened its doors as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's 78th indoor sports facility across the city.

Opening Ceremony and Attendees

Located at the intersection of Küçüksu, Kandilli, and Kuleli neighborhoods, the facility has entered service as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's 78th indoor sports facility citywide. Municipal executives, council members, neighborhood heads, sports clubs, and numerous athletes attended the opening ceremony.

Facility Equipment and Capacity

Established on a total area of 12,500 square meters, the complex houses a semi-olympic swimming pool, fitness and studio halls, an indoor sports hall, and outdoor basketball and volleyball courts. The facility aims to provide sports services for approximately 20,000 people and 250,000 sessions annually, with training planned to be conducted by municipal instructors.

Social Support and Swimming Training

Within the scope of the complex, specialized swimming training will also be provided for children between the ages of 3 and 13. Under the facility's social support program, Mother Card holders, retirees, citizens over 65, and women without social security will be able to benefit from sports services at symbolic fees during specified hours.

Halet Çambel's Name Will Be Kept Alive

The complex was named after Halet Çambel, one of the first female athletes to represent Turkey by participating in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, who subsequently carried out significant work in the field of archaeology. Officials speaking at the opening stated that the aim is to pass on Çambel's legacy in sports and science to younger generations.

Parking and Olympic Goals

A three-story İSPARK underground parking lot with a capacity of 114 vehicles, built within the complex, also began service on the same day. It was announced that the parking lot will operate between 08:00 and 18:00, the first 15 minutes will be free of charge, and a monthly subscription system will be implemented for regular users.
