Kaçkar by UTMB Mountain Marathon Kicked Off in Ayder Plateau
Minister Osman Aşkın Bak gave the start of the international ultra mountain marathon held in Rize and ran on the course with the participants.
The second Kaçkar by UTMB ultra mountain marathon, held at the Ayder Plateau in Rize's Çamlıhemşin district, started with the participation of Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak.
Start of the Marathon and Participation
Hosted by the Ayder Plateau in Rize's Çamlıhemşin district, the Kaçkar by UTMB marathon, which is the Turkish leg of the UTMB World Series, began with great excitement.
A total of 2,000 athletes from 60 different countries participated in this international organization, engaging in a fierce competition.
Statements by Minister Bak
Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak particularly emphasized the importance of sports tourism in his speech during the event.
Minister Bak stated that they aim to bring important destinations like Ayder and Rize together with such major international organizations.
Starts and Protocol Run
Following the speeches, Minister Osman Aşkın Bak gave the start for the 50-kilometer and 20-kilometer races of the organization, which is held in 4 different categories.
Immediately after the start, Minister Bak and Rize Governor İhsan Selim Baydaş ran together on the 4-kilometer long course.
Courses and Supporters
Throughout the organization, athletes are sweating it out on courses with varying levels of difficulty: 100, 50, 20, and 4 kilometers.
Turkish Airlines, TOGG, Turkcell, and Maxis are officially providing sponsorship support for the event.
