Minister Osman Aşkın Bak: Youth and Sports Investments Highlighted at Samsun City Hospital Opening
Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak provided information on dormitory capacities, scholarship opportunities, and sports facilities during the hospital opening in Samsun.
In his speech at the opening ceremony of the Samsun City Hospital, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak made statements regarding youth dormitory placements, non-repayable scholarship opportunities, sports facility investments, and upcoming international organizations.
Dormitory and Scholarship Opportunities
Stating that as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, they announced dormitory placements last week and achieved a 93 percent placement rate, Minister Bak emphasized that no other country in the world has a system with a one-million bed capacity.
Reminding that free breakfast and dinner are provided in the dormitories prepared for youth starting university, Minister Bak stated that approximately 650,000 students are provided with non-repayable scholarships, and nearly 850,000 students with interest-free loans.
Sports Facilities and Investments
Expressing that they have built modern sports facilities and halls all over the country for the development of sports, Minister Bak noted that within the framework of the 'Let Everyone Learn to Swim' project, 12 million people have been taught how to swim in the last eight years.
Stating that 700 semi-olympic pools have been completed so far, the construction of 150 is ongoing, and 150 are in the project phase, Minister Bak announced that forty stadiums have been completed and new ones will be built.
International Successes and Organizations
Reminding that the Sultans of the Net became European champions for the second time and that they secured second place by winning 111 medals at the Mediterranean Games in Italy, Minister Bak drew attention to the success of national athletes.
Stating that the European Games will be held in Istanbul in 2027 and the 2032 UEFA European Championship in Turkey, Minister Bak added that the national basketball team has also achieved significant success.
