Sports Festival Held in İzmir Within the Scope of Public Health Week

A sports festival was organized in İzmir on the occasion of the September 3-9 Public Health Week within the framework of the 'Healthy Child, Healthy Future Program' to help children acquire active lifestyle habits.

Location of the Event and Collaboration

A comprehensive sports festival was held at the Atatürk Sports Complex Seha Aksoy Athletics Track in İzmir to help children acquire active lifestyle habits from an early age and to raise health awareness. The organization was carried out through the joint cooperation of the İzmir Provincial Directorate of Health and the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports.

Participants and Protocol Visits

The event was attended by former Minister of Youth and Sports and İzmir Deputy Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Murat Eskici, İzmir Provincial Director of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Kul, healthcare professionals, students from sports clubs, and numerous sports fans. The protocol delegation visited the sports stations and came together with the children.

Sports Branches and Health Stands

Within the scope of the program, children played sports under the guidance of coaches in branches such as volleyball, mini football, arm wrestling, table tennis, athletics, mini golf, gymnastics, foot tennis, and foosball. Additionally, height, weight, Body Mass Index, blood sugar, and blood pressure measurements were performed at the stands set up in the event area.

Evaluations by Authorities and School Activities

İzmir Deputy Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu emphasized that sports carry great importance in terms of physical, mental, and social health. İzmir Provincial Director of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Kul stated that activities were carried out in 130 schools during the 2025-2026 academic term, reaching 33,149 students.
