Suspect Who Assaulted Female Gym Owner in Mersin Released
The suspect, who was caught on security cameras choking and attacking a female gym owner in Mersin, was released under judicial control by the court following police procedures.
Aylin Demirtaş, who runs a gym in the Yenişehir district of Mersin, was assaulted by her male customer, K.T., whom she had warned for causing a disturbance in the gym. The suspect, who was detained following a complaint by Demirtaş after being choked and left breathless, was released under judicial control by the court to which he was referred.
Argument in the Gym Turns into Violence
An argument broke out between 33-year-old gym owner Aylin Demirtaş and customer K.T. at a gym located in the Çiftlikköy neighborhood of Mersin's Yenişehir district. K.T., who was warned for disturbing other members, walked towards Demirtaş as the argument escalated and choked her.
Demirtaş, who was left breathless during the attack, was rescued from the suspect's grasp by a female employee at the gym who intervened. The moments of scuffle and violence were recorded second by second by the business's security cameras.
Membership Cancellation Was Requested Following Complaints
Stating that she has been running the gym for about 5 years, Aylin Demirtaş expressed that they had previously received numerous complaints about the suspect K.T. from other members in the gym, especially women. Demirtaş stated that they wanted to terminate the suspect's membership, but this process was delayed because a staff member accidentally renewed the registration.
Expressing that she wanted to calmly talk to the suspect and remove him from the gym on the day of the incident, Demirtaş said that K.T. insisted on entering and suddenly attacked her during the conversation. Demirtaş, who was pushed backward during the attack, stated that she hurt her back while resisting to avoid hitting the glass door and suffered from back pain for about a month.
Released Under Judicial Control
Stating that the suspect did not leave the gym immediately after the assault but entered a few more times, insisting on working out, Demirtaş filed a complaint due to the fear she experienced. K.T., who was detained by police teams upon the instruction of the public prosecutor, was released under judicial control at the courthouse where he was referred after procedures at the police station.
