Sports writer Uğur Meleke announced that he is a candidate for the presidency of the Turkish Football Federation in the first election and shared his new manifesto consisting of 10 items with the public.
Hürriyet sports writer Uğur Meleke reiterated his candidacy for the presidency of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) in the upcoming election and announced that he has added 10 new items to his prepared manifesto.
Candidacy for TFF Presidency
Hürriyet sports writer Uğur Meleke announced that he is a candidate for the presidency of the Turkish Football Federation in the first election. He stated that if he comes to office, he will end the mafia-like jargon and suit-wearing hooliganism.
Stating that he will bring merit instead of loyalty criteria for the presidency and base management on science and innovation, Meleke criticized the current TFF board of directors structure.
Management Structure and Delegates
Stating that the majority of current TFF delegates consist of contractors, industrialists, and painters, Meleke reminded that 64 delegate signatures are required for candidacy.
He noted that if elected, he aims to make former national football players, top-level managers, referees, and other stakeholders of the sports community delegates in the right proportions.
Referee and VAR Regulations
According to the items in the manifesto, the current Central Referee Board model will be consigned to history. They will work with a foreign referee instructor, and referees will be appointed by drawing lots.
It is envisioned that the VAR room will be open to audit, club officials will be invited to the glass-partitioned section, and the broadcaster will also be audited by having an observer in the control room.
Broadcasting Pool and Stadium Standards
It was reported that stadium occupancy rates and successes in European cups will be taken into account in the distribution of broadcasting pool revenues.
In addition, it was stated that stadiums will be brought up to civilized standards and regularly audited by independent auditors.
Calendar, Squad, and Foreign Player Criteria
It was stated that the league calendar may be reviewed and the league started earlier to prepare for European preliminary rounds. It is planned to increase match squads to 23 people.
It is aimed to lift the foreign player limit, switch to a visa application instead, introduce a signing limit for technical directors for clubs, and abolish national team bonuses.
Budget and Term of Office
It was announced that TFF's giant budget will be transferred directly to the infrastructure. It was committed to leave office at the end of four years in order to implement the foreseen reforms.
