Following the decision to transfer the operating rights of the 15 July Martyrs and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges, as well as certain highways and ring roads, for a period of 30 years, a statement came from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

Authorization for Bridges and Highways

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, the Privatization Administration was authorized for certain bridges and highways operated by the General Directorate of Highways.

Transfer of Operating Rights and Ownership

The Privatization Administration stated that the regulation does not involve the sale of public assets, and only the operating right will be transferred on the condition that the right of ownership remains with the state.

Response to Profit and Revenue Claims

It was stated that news reports claiming that highways make an annual profit of 600 million dollars do not reflect the truth, and that this amount is revenue, not profit.

Maintenance and Operating Expenses

It was reported that approximately 300 million dollars of the revenue is allocated for maintenance and repairs, and that there are also significant amounts of investment, renovation, and personnel expenses.

Financial Costs and Tender Status

It was conveyed that 30-year profit calculations made by ignoring costs are technically invalid and that the decision does not directly mean a tender.
