Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin attended the opening ceremony of Sabri Ekşinozlugil Anatolian Imam Hatip High School and Zehra Ekşinozlugil Girls' Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in Yalova. In his speech at the ceremony, he stated that the physical and technological infrastructure of schools has been improved under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Curriculum Changes and New Approach

Minister Tekin stated that the curriculum contents have been cleared of unnecessary weight and national and spiritual values have been added. Noting that certain concepts in history have been re-evaluated, Tekin pointed out that the Crusades are evaluated in the context of attacks and the Age of Discovery in the context of colonial activities.

Century of Turkey Education Model

Stating that the main parameters of the Century of Turkey Education Model are patriotism, unity, brotherhood, and fundamental human rights, Tekin conveyed that awareness-raising activities will be carried out during the first week of the new academic year. Minister Tekin expressed that a terrorism-free Turkey will be built together through these efforts.

Development of Imam Hatip Schools

Touching upon the history of imam hatip schools in his speech, Minister Tekin recalled that student enrollment rates dropped during the implementation period in 1997. He shared that, according to current data, the student enrollment rate in imam hatip high schools has risen to 9.56 percent, and the rate in imam hatip middle schools to 13.91 percent.
