Speaking at a panel held within the scope of GITEX Ai Türkiye 2026 at the Istanbul Expo Center, Anadolu Agency Chairman and Director General Serdar Karagöz stated that artificial intelligence will fundamentally transform the media sector and journalism activities.
A New Era in Artificial Intelligence and Media
Anadolu Agency Chairman and Director General Serdar Karagöz attended GITEX Ai Türkiye 2026, held at the Istanbul Expo Center, where the agency serves as the global communication partner. He made significant remarks during a panel moderated by Gökhan Yücel, Head of the Communications Department at the Presidency's Investment and Finance Office.
Speed and the Human Factor in Journalism
Karagöz emphasized that artificial intelligence will significantly change the media and journalism activities, just as it does every area of life. He stated that this transformation will enable faster journalism processes with fewer personnel.
Anadolu Agency's Artificial Intelligence Modules
Stating that they assign active roles to artificial intelligence in the agency's operations, Karagöz noted that thanks to the news monitoring module, tip-offs on social media are rapidly detected and reporters are directed to the scene.
The Importance of Responsibility and Institutional Trust
Karagöz emphasized that artificial intelligence does not take part in the decision-making stage and that the final decision always rests with humans. He stated that the institutional value of news agencies that provide trust and assume responsibility will increase in the age of artificial intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence Cannot Dream
Stating that artificial intelligence can solve mathematical problems and analyze DNA, Karagöz noted that because it cannot dream, it cannot put forward a new scientific theory like Newton or Einstein.
Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Cinema Industry
Speaking at the panel, producer Eyüp Gökhan Özekin stated that the use of artificial intelligence in the cinema industry will serve to produce higher quality works at world standards with the same budget, rather than simply reducing costs.
