The U.S. Army Contracting Command is testing an artificial intelligence tool called Army MAX to optimize service procurement processes, reduce manual data entry, and shorten solicitation drafting times.
Development of the Army MAX Platform
The Army Contracting Command developed the Army Marketplace, Automation and Execution platform to modernize service procurement processes that cover a portfolio worth billions of dollars each year.
Called Army MAX, this system aims to reduce time-consuming manual data entry and ensure greater consistency in requirements and solicitations.
An Interface Reducing Personnel Workload
Currently in development, the platform allows personnel to communicate unit needs through a guided, intuitive interface directly connected to the relevant contracting office.
Through this system, the army aims to issue requests for proposals in days or weeks instead of weeks or months, freeing up personnel for other tasks.
AI-Powered Document Process
After an organization looking to purchase services enters its mission needs and capabilities into the Army MAX system, artificial intelligence processes this data and converts it into a standardized document.
This structured document, made compliant with current regulations, is forwarded directly to the relevant contracting office for review.
Initial Pilot and Future Goals
In the initial pilot study conducted in May and June, the software was asked to write a solicitation for portable restroom services for Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia.
Future versions are planned to allow vendors to submit price quotes and enable the awarding and execution of contracts.
