Decision to Protect Human Effort
The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has introduced new rules against AI-generated content rapidly spreading in the music world. According to the decision, songs created from start to finish using AI tools will no longer be included in the country's leading music charts.
ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd stated that the main purpose of this change is to protect the human nature of art. Under the new rules, works by musicians who use AI only as an assistive tool will still be able to appear on the charts.
Developments in the Industry and Labeling Systems
The impact of AI technology on the music industry is growing day by day. In July, a version of Madonna's song "Like a Prayer" featuring AI vocals and drums topped the Australian charts. Additionally, it is reported that more than a third of new songs uploaded to Apple Music are produced with AI assistance.
In response to these developments, other major music platforms are also taking action. While Spotify is reportedly working on a new label called "AI Persona", major music organizations have also announced a joint labeling system for AI-generated content.
