At the Conference on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development held in Vietnam, it was emphasized that scientific knowledge must be translated into concrete policies and actions. The event, attended by experts from twelve countries, discussed strategic technologies and strengthening basic sciences.

Opening of the Conference and Participants

The event, held at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education, was attended by more than sixty scientists, technology experts, diplomats, and policymakers from twelve countries.

The opening ceremony was organized in cooperation with the Association of Vietnamese Science Meetings and the center, with the contributions of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee.

Strategic Technologies and Basic Sciences

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Trung Tinh stated that resources for research, technological mastery, and investment will be concentrated around strategic technologies.

It was emphasized that in addition to prioritizing strategic technologies, the infrastructure in basic sciences must continue to be strengthened.

Cooperation Among Stakeholders

Participants expressed the importance of establishing a close connection among the government, research institutions, universities, and businesses.

Administrations that formulate policies, institutions that produce knowledge, and commercial enterprises that apply technology met on common ground.

Critical Themes Addressed

Topics such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, energy transition, Earth observation from space, and science diplomacy were discussed at the meeting.

In addition to seven main sessions, a special session was held on parliamentary diplomacy and science diplomacy in the context of conflict.
