Digital technology sector grew by 32.1% in the first nine months

At the regular September 2026 press conference held by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Hanoi, it was announced that the digital technology sector recorded a cumulative growth of 32.1% in the first nine months of the year, with total revenue exceeding the threshold of 5.38 million billion VND.

Sector Revenue and Growth Figures

It was stated that the digital technology sector's revenue for September 2026 reached 770,766 billion VND, marking a 36% increase compared to the same period last year.

The cumulative total revenue for the first nine months of the year surpassed the 5.38 million billion VND mark with an increase of approximately 32.1%.

Infrastructure and Digital Transformation Developments

The number of transactions carried out via the National Data Integration and Sharing Platform reached 4.86 billion, demonstrating the expansion of digital infrastructure.

The rate of adults aged 15-65 having a digital signature nationwide rose to 49.96%, with a total of 34.575 million digital signature certificates issued.

IPv6 and Domain Name Statistics

The IPv6 adoption rate reached 67%, placing the country second in Southeast Asia and seventh globally.

The number of national .vn domain names increased by 5.7% compared to the same period in 2025, recorded at 703,236.

Postal Sector and Scientific Research

It was projected that postal sector revenues in September 2026 increased by 22% to reach 9,260 billion VND, while parcel volume grew by 14% to reach 440 million.

Positive results were achieved in scientific research as 3,131 international publications originating from Vietnam were featured in the Scopus database in September.

Intellectual Property and Legal Regulations

The Intellectual Property Office received 16,205 industrial property applications in September, processed 17,525 applications, and granted 8,096 protection titles.

Throughout the month, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued two ministerial decisions and three circulars, taking steps for the semiconductor industry and strategic technologies.

Launch of the National Information System

The National Science, Technology and Innovation Information System was officially put into operation by the Ministry on September 11, 2026.

The established system was designed to manage project lifecycle data, reduce administrative burden, and connect research results with businesses.
