Energy Sector Demands Incentive Mechanism for New Investments

The energy sector is demanding the implementation of a new incentive mechanism similar to YEKDEM in order to pave the way for new investments and facilitate access to financing.
Expectation for a YEKDEM-Like Incentive
Güriş Teknoloji Chairman of the Board Kaan Yamantürk touched upon wind energy investments in Turkey during his statements at the WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 Fair. Stating that they have an installed capacity of 700 megawatt-hours in Turkey, Yamantürk expressed that sector-specific support mechanisms are needed to bring new investments to life.
Incentive Requirement in Loan Processes
Yamantürk emphasized that under current conditions, creditors do not provide loans unless such incentives are provided. Stating that even if they want to make investments, projects cannot be realized due to financing problems, the official pointed out that new mechanisms are of critical importance.
Battery Investment in Romania
Touching upon the battery energy storage investment in Romania, Kaan Yamantürk conveyed that this project is the first and only investment supported by European Union funds. He added that they received a letter of thanks from the state when the batteries came into operation during the energy crisis in Romania.
