Energy Storage Sector's Target for Next Year is 5 Gigawatt-hours
At the held sector meeting, it was announced that this year's targets were successfully achieved and the goal for the upcoming period is to reach a capacity of 5 gigawatt-hours.
At the meeting where investment expectations of the storage sector were discussed, it was announced that this year's targeted capacity of 1 gigawatt-hour has been reached and the target for next year is 5 gigawatt-hours.
Sectoral Targets and Emphasis on Domestic Production
Manufacturers, investors, and companies serving the sector came together at a press conference where the agenda of the storage sector was evaluated. It was stated that the association was established to support the production of energy storage systems in Turkey with domestic resources.
While drawing attention to the importance of renewable energy in reducing fossil fuel imports, it was stated that these resources cannot be used efficiently unless energy is stored.
Financing Needs and Upcoming Congress Date
It was emphasized that further acceleration of the process would be possible with cost-effective financing opportunities. It was noted that the association will organize the 3rd Future of Energy and Storage Congress in Ankara on December 8.
At the meeting, information was also shared that a capacity of 33,500 megawatts has been allocated for storage projects in Turkey.
Regional Battery Base and Export Targets
In statements made by sector representatives, it was expressed that the aim is to make Turkey a regional battery hub.
In this direction, it was conveyed that efforts will continue to develop exports in the field of storage systems and increase market share.
