Gallup Poll: Americans Among the Least Optimistic Regarding Artificial Intelligence

A comprehensive Gallup poll conducted across thirty-seven countries revealed that Americans are among the nationalities with the least optimism that artificial intelligence will improve their lives. Only 36 percent of Americans surveyed stated they were hopeful about AI, while 74 percent expressed concern over the technology.

A comprehensive study conducted by Gallup in 37 countries highlighted striking differences in global perspectives toward artificial intelligence. While 93 percent of participants in China believe that artificial intelligence will improve their lives, this figure remained at 36 percent in the United States.

Concern Rates in the US and Other Countries

In responses to questions posed in the study, US citizens became one of the three national groups—alongside Egypt and the Palestinian territories—where negative sentiments outweighed positive ones. Seventy-four percent of Americans stated they were concerned about artificial intelligence, placing them ahead of countries such as the Netherlands, Canada, and the United Kingdom as the most anxious group.

Usage Habits and Differences in Approaches

Experts point out that high usage and adoption rates in the Western world are simultaneously combined with high levels of anxiety. Although the US ranks lower in daily artificial intelligence usage, the attitudes of citizens toward the technology exhibit a much sharper and more polarized structure compared to other countries.

The Element of Trust and Technological Adoption

Experts conducting the research indicate that trust in artificial intelligence is the strongest link in the adoption of the technology. It is stated that certain security issues and cyber incidents experienced recently have adversely affected this sense of trust.
