Ho Chi Minh City University of Science Welcomed Its New Students
Celebrating its new academic year, the university announced that a large proportion of the students have achieved honors in national and international competitions.
Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City - University of Science welcomed its new students from 24 provinces and cities at the opening ceremony for the 2026-2027 academic year. According to disclosed data, more than 24% of the new students have won awards in academic achievement, science, and technology competitions.
New Academic Year Opening Ceremony Held
On September 14, the University of Science held a celebration ceremony for the 2026-2027 new academic year to welcome more than 4,900 new students from 24 provinces and cities. It was announced that more than 24% of the new students won awards in various levels of competitions.
Comprehensive Selection Method and Admission Scores
In 2026, the university enrolled students for the first time using a comprehensive selection method. While admission score cutoffs ranged between 21.50 and 29.32 out of 30, 28 of the school's 39 majors and training programs had admission scores of 24 or higher.
Awards Won at National and International Levels
While 222 students received awards in Ministry of Education and Training competitions, 13 of them achieved first place and 62 achieved second place. Tran Dai Thanh Danh won an IMO Silver Medal and an APMO Gold Medal, while Nguyen Quang Chuong received the ICPC Second Prize.
Science Excellence Scholarship Program
Within the scope of the "Science Excellence Scholarship" program launched with a total value of approximately 29 billion VND to support students who showed outstanding performance in the entrance exam, scholarships were awarded to 178 new students at the ceremony.
