The Minister of Science and Technology assessed Hue University's research potential and discussed strategic technology steps for regional development.
Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan met with Hue University to review scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation activities, discussing strategic technology areas that will contribute to the development of Hue City.
Date and Purpose of the Meeting
Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan held a working session with Hue University to evaluate the results of scientific, technological, innovation, and digital transformation activities. Ways to leverage the university's potential were put on the table during this meeting.
During the meeting, opinions and solutions were also exchanged regarding the directions to be followed to make practical contributions to the development of Hue City and the Central and Central Highlands regions.
The Role of the University and Evaluations
Minister Vu Hai Quan stated that Hue University is of critical importance in terms of science, technology, and high-quality human resources for the new-era development of both the Central region and Hue City.
The minister requested that the university comprehensively evaluate its past science and technology activities, particularly the quantity and quality of projects funded by the ministry.
Strategic Research Directions and Expectations
The ministry asked for the proactive identification of areas to be invested in, primarily strategic technology groups. It was emphasized that scientific research must create concrete products and be commercializable.
In addition, attention was drawn to the necessity of establishing a strong coordination between the government, scientists, and businesses, requesting that the researches be applicable and transferable.
The University's Projects and Goals
Hue University reported that it has implemented 35 national-level science and technology projects in the 2021-2025 period, increased the number of international publications, and promoted technology transfer activities.
In the upcoming period, the university will concentrate its resources on fields such as biotechnology, medicine, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, new materials, clean energy, environment, cultural industry, heritage tourism, and the digital economy.
Local Government's Request for Support
Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, stated that science, technology, and innovation are vital resources for the city's development and requested support from the ministry.
Furthermore, demands were voiced during the meeting to strengthen the triple helix linkage mechanism bringing together the state, university, and business parties.
