Ministry of Science and Technology aims to cut administrative procedure wait times by over a thousand days

The Ministry of Science and Technology plans to decentralize 58 administrative procedures, abolish 26 outdated procedures, and reduce processing times by a total of 1,066 days to optimize services provided to citizens and businesses.

New Steps in Administrative Procedure Reform

The Ministry of Science and Technology is taking new steps to accelerate the restructuring of business processes toward a data-centric approach. In this context, a comprehensive workshop addressing administrative procedures was held on September 15.

Decentralization and Time Reduction Goals

During the workshop, Government Decree No. 20/2026/NQ-CP on the decentralization, reduction, and simplification of administrative procedures and business conditions was thoroughly discussed. According to information shared by a representative of the Legal Department, the ministry aims to decentralize 58 administrative procedures and completely abolish 26 outdated procedures.

With the implementation of these planned steps, it is estimated that approximately 1,066 days of time will be saved in transactions for citizens and businesses.

Digital Data Usage and New Decrees

Representatives from the Ministry of Justice stated that the use of paper-based documents will be phased out during the process. Accordingly, Decrees No. 309/2026/ND-CP and No. 310/2026/ND-CP, which mandate the use of digital data available in national and specialized databases, were presented to the participants.

Public Service Portal Data

Representatives of the Ministry of Public Security also shared important statistics at the meeting regarding the current operations of the National Public Service Portal. Accordingly, as of September 14, 2026, over 27 million successful records were created and nearly 6.9 million online payment transactions were processed through the system.
