The Ministry of Science and Technology recently reviewed 113 strategic technology development projects proposed by 30 local governments. The review results showed that many projects share similar contents and technological foundations.
Artificial intelligence and UAV projects stand out
Artificial intelligence virtual assistants were proposed particularly by localities such as Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Nghe An, Can Tho, Ca Mau, Tay Ninh, and Dak Lak. Unmanned aerial vehicles were included in the plans of many regions for fields such as forest monitoring, agriculture, and urban planning.
Ministry issues warning regarding duplicate tasks
During the government administration meeting in September, Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan drew attention to task duplication among local governments. Minister Quan requested that this issue be resolved by October 2026.
Strategies to be implemented in the new period
The ministry aims to develop large-scale projects and select certain regions as testing grounds. It is planned that the tasks will be connected with enterprises, research institutes, and universities, with businesses placed at the center.
