New Self-Regulation Agreement Signed for the Artificial Intelligence Industry
A new artificial intelligence safety agreement signed by US President Trump and technology leaders envisions companies establishing their own auditing mechanisms.
Details of the artificial intelligence safety agreement, announced by US President Donald Trump and signed by executives of leading technology companies, have been shared with the public. Entitled the Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities, this text aims for self-regulation in artificial intelligence technologies.
Emergence of the Agreement
The agreement text, titled the Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities, was shared online by technology founder and presidential advisor David Sacks. President Trump ordered that the US government henceforth refer to the term artificial intelligence as Super Intelligence.
Signing Leaders
Sundar Pichai of Google, Dario Amodei of Anthropic, Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, Greg Brockman of OpenAI, Elon Musk of xAI, and Jensen Huang of Nvidia signed the agreement. US President Donald Trump also placed his own signature on the document.
Four Fundamental Rules
The agreement presents four fundamental rules to companies in order to ensure that artificial intelligence models behave safely and to resolve issues quickly. These rules include internal controls, partnerships with independent auditors, and board committees.
Future Regulations
Later sections of the document state that it may be logical to turn these steps into laws or regulations over time. In its current form, the rules aim to shape companies' security processes.
