Helping older adults use AI in everyday life

OpenAI Academy, in partnership with Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) under AARP, is launching a special learning program to enable older adults to use artificial intelligence safely and practically.

Artificial Intelligence Support in Daily Life

AI tools are aimed to be accessible and beneficial for people of all ages. Events organized within this scope offer practical support for older adults in areas such as travel planning, understanding complex bills or letters, and acquiring new hobbies.

Increasing Usage Rates and Security

In the United States, the proportion of messages sent to ChatGPT by individuals aged 55 and older has risen from 6 percent to approximately 10 percent over the past year. The program also covers methods for online security and protection against scams.

Precautions Against Scams

The workshops teach participants warning signs such as emergency language and suspicious links, while providing the opportunity to use ChatGPT as an additional layer of protection.

Events Held in Various Cities

The Older Adults AI Skills Jam program is being implemented across 10 different communities, including Senior Planet locations such as Denver, Miami, San Antonio, Montgomery County, and Queens, as well as local partners like Nashville Public Library, Fresno EOC, and LEARN Idaho.
