Strategic Cooperation in Nuclear Energy
While Turkey aims for technology transfer and the reduction of foreign dependency in its nuclear energy investments, a significant stage has been reached in the negotiations carried out with Canada. The goal is to move the trade volume onto a strategic foundation.
CANDU Technology and Fuel Independence
It is stated that the main element highlighting the Canadian option is technology transfer. Canada's CANDU technology, which operates with unenriched natural uranium, allows for the reduction of long-term dependency in fuel supply.
Negotiation Process and Letter of Intent
It was stated that a final investment decision has not yet been reached in the process, and a letter of intent was signed between the parties. In the preliminary phase, site selection, the number of reactors, and capacity will be determined.
