Pramila Jayapal, co-chair of the Monopoly Busters Caucus, stated that they gathered to examine the dominance of big tech companies in the artificial intelligence industry and the profits generated through the surveillance of American citizens.
Testimony of Experts and Witnesses
At the meeting, former Meta employee and whistleblower Dr. Jason Sattizahn and Leila Turner-Scott, the mother of a child who lost their life due to artificial intelligence guidance, testified.
In addition, AI Now Institute Co-Executive Director Amba Kak and Amazon Employees for Climate Justice co-founder Eliza Pan attended the hearing to share their views.
Preparations for New Legislation
Pramila Jayapal announced that she will soon introduce a new bill that will establish a national federal charter for artificial intelligence companies, mandate structural reforms, and break oligopolistic control.
