Preparations Underway for Phase 2 of Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology Project
Strategic cooperation talks were held for the second phase of the VKIST Project, which will be implemented with $30 million in aid from South Korea.
Within the scope of preparations for the second phase of the Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology Project, to be implemented between 2026 and 2033, high-level delegation talks were held and steps for cooperation in strategic technology fields were discussed.
Cooperation Talks for the Second Phase
As part of a working visit to South Korea, Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan and his accompanying delegation visited the Korea Institute of Science and Technology headquarters and met with officials.
Proposal for Four Core Strategic Areas
During the meeting, Minister Vu Hai Quan proposed the development of joint research in four strategic areas: semiconductors, artificial intelligence, batteries and energy storage, advanced materials, and biotechnology.
Infrastructure and Human Resources Development
In the new period of the project, it is planned to establish R&D infrastructure and modern equipment-sharing mechanisms, as well as to have Vietnamese researchers serve within KIST.
New Era Following the First Phase
Following the first phase, which cost approximately $70 million, the second phase will be supported by $30 million in non-refundable aid and will encompass numerous joint projects.
